SolarPower Europe has issued the following statement on the widely reported REV4 of the compromise draft on the EU Electricity Market Revision.
Dries Acke, Policy Director at SolarPower Europe said (he/him):
“The latest draft we’ve seen on the Electricity Market Design revision is generating cause for concern in the solar industry.
Making it easier to trigger crisis conditions is counterproductive. Opening the door to emergency interventions several times a year means, again, high uncertainty and slowing down investments in renewables.
Crisis frameworks are important… in times of crisis as we experienced in 2022. The transition now needs certainty on the wholesale market to drive renewable investment.”
