Leading the Energy Transition
SolarPower Europe is the award-winning link between policymakers and the solar PV value chain. Our mission is to ensure solar becomes Europe’s leading energy source by 2030.
SolarPower Europe, the premier association for the European solar PV sector, unites 320+ organisations. Collaborating with members, we shape regulations and business landscapes for solar’s growth.
Our dedicated policy experts lead focused workstreams, addressing key issues and influencing legislation. Based in Brussels, we build strong relationships, ensuring solar’s pivotal role in the European energy transition.
As co-founders of the RE-Source Platform, Renewable Hydrogen Coalition, and the European Solar Initiative, we actively engage in EU and international projects, fostering partnerships with 40+ organizations globally.
SolarPower Europe’s top analysts provide market intelligence through reports like the Global Market Outlook for Solar Power and EU Solar Jobs Report. Our events, including the SolarPower Summit and RE-Source, bring policymakers and stakeholders together for networking and business opportunities.
"Our vision is to lead our members to make solar the core of a smart, sustainable, secure and inclusive energy system in order to reach climate neutrality in the EU well before 2050."
SolarPower Europe represents 320 companies and organisations across the entire solar value chain. 88% of our members are European headquartered companies.
As per the SolarPower Europe statues, which govern the association's activities: "SolarPower Europe fully supports the EU Green Deal objective of Climate Neutrality and a Net Zero economy in Europe well before 2050. SolarPower Europe works towards a 100% renewable, fossil-free energy system, with solar as the main pillar, by 2040, as the most cost-effective way of becoming climate neutral, driving economy-wide decarbonization predominantly via direct, and where needed, indirect electrification." (Article 4a)
As many other trade associations, SolarPower Europe has international representation amongst its membership. 12% of our members are international, including 7,2% Chinese and 4,8% others. 15.2% of SolarPower Europe’s revenue comes from Chinese companies.
Under our membership structure, international members have 16,2% voting share, including 11,1% vote share for Chinese companies. In all our votes, the majority rules.
All of SolarPower Europe’s political positions are ultimately approved by our Board, where 19 out of 20 of our Board members represent European-headquartered companies. More information about our Board members here.
