Our CEO Walburga Hemetsberger opened the conference stating; "We employed 650,000 people in our sector last year. We need 1 million workers by 2025. With our jobs fair, we want to bring students, job seekers & companies together to foster new connections in the sola sector.” Following this, our Market Analyst Christophe Lits presented our latest EU Solar Jobs Report 2023 figures. He outlined how the sector could reach 1.2 million EU workers in 2027.
Our Head of Regulatory Affairs Naomi Chevillard then moderated a session, where we heard testimonials from various solar professionals who discussed what kind of jobs are in demand in solar, and the kind of career developments to expect. This panel included: Marina Montero Carrero, Project Adviser, European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA); Calin Sas, Asset Manager, Sunrock; Miguel Herrero, Market & Insights Analyst, PVCase; Kenneth Frey, Director, Huawei Digital Power Germany; and Paolo Corti, Director, Sun Appeal.
After our first networking session, we hear tips from recruiters on the do's and don'ts for solar applicants. The session was moderated by Arthur Daemers, Policy Adviser, SolarPower Europe, and featured Rozelien Callaerts, HR Officer, SolarPower Europe; Elisabeth Colberg, Head of Global Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding, BayWa.r.e.; Marylin Schlamkow, Global Employer Partnership Lead, Generation; and Guilhem Ricard, Chargé de recherche en recrutement, Elatos.
Elisabeth Colberg highlighted; "We now have more than 4700 employees...Come as you are & we will give you the tools you need, to be successful."
Finally, we had our last session where attendees heard from our Solar Diversity Champion Award finalists, REScoop.eu,Solitek, and SolarEdge.
#SolarWorksFair attendees voted for REScoop.EU, SoliTek, and SolarEdge, as their Gold, Silver, and Bronze Solar Diversity Champion 2023 winners.
The panel applauded REScoop.eu’s gender equality and justice ethos across its activities, highlighting its ‘Charter of Commitment on Equality between Women and Men in Cooperatives,’ and its Gender Power Working Group. REScoop.EU’s diversity story was presented by Antonia Proka, Project Manger, and Sara Tachelet, Communications manager. Showcasing their diversity story, they said; "We want to contribute to a just energy transition & promote the participation of people of all genders."
The Solar Diversity Champion Awards acknowledge and celebrate organisations that have demonstrated commitment and success in achieving gender balance, and creating diverse, inclusive work environments.
