The aim of Eindhoven Solar Team is to create innovative, energy-efficient vehicles in order to inspire the current market and society to accelerate the transition to a sustainable future – in both mobility and energy.
Stella Vita is a mobile home wherein you can live and work while travelling on the energy of the sun. The vehicle generates energy through its solar panels on the roof and uses this energy for both driving and living: enough to drive, shower, watch TV, charge your laptop and make coffee!
What was the inspiration behind the ‘Self-sustaining House on Wheels’ Stella Vita?
We have global targets to reduce CO2 emissions and keep our earth livable. We must replace fossil fuels with sustainable energy sources in order to realise the energy transition. A transition that, as far as we are concerned, is not going fast enough. By creating an innovative, energy-efficient solar vehicle, we want to inspire the current market and society to accelerate the transition to a sustainable future – in both mobility and energy.
Stella Vita, stella means ‘star’ and Vita stand for ‘ life’, is a Self-sustaining House On Wheels. A mobile house in which you can live and work while you travel on the energy of the sun. Stella Vita makes you completely self-sufficient and independent. This gives the freedom to go wherever you want, without burdening the environment.
Why did you choose solar energy and why do you believe solar is important?
In a single hour, the amount of power from the sun that strikes the Earth is more than the entire world consumes in a year. By using our greatest energy source, the sun, we can make mobility not about energy consumption rather energy production. We believe that the solution for a sustainable future in mobility lies in the vehicles themselves. By means of solar panels on your vehicle you are independent of the charging infrastructure.
What is next for Eindhoven Solar Team?
That is up to the next team. They can decide what the new solar car of the future looks like.
