European Solar Day wins the International Energy Engagement Award 2025

3 March 2025

European Solar Day has been recognised with the International Energy Engagement Award at the International Energy Awards 2025

The International Energy Awards shine a spotlight on the organisations and teams from around the world making a difference. Alongside Secretary Kerry receiving the President’s Award, four other awards were presented - the Young Professional of the Year, and project awards in Workforce, Engagement and Technology categories.

The International Energy Engagement Award celebrates effective advocacy and public engagement initiatives in the energy sector, and this year, SolarPower Europe's efforts have been recognised at an international stage.

Launched in 2023, European Solar Day is an annual celebration held on the 21st of June, the brightest and longest day of the year. This special day unites people across Europe to celebrate and take action for a solar-powered future.

The campaign aims at equipping individuals with the knowledge and tools to navigate a world transformed by solar energy, highlighting its endless potential to reshape our energy system, our lives, and the future of our planet. In 2024, the campaign also launched the Solar School to ensure that solar knowledge is accessible and understandable for everyone.

With over 60 partners supporting the initiative, European Solar Day reaches over 1 million people across social media each year, from Cyprus and Romania to Sweden and Portugal.

SolarPower Europe extends its gratitude to the organisers of the International Energy Awards and to the incredible network of cross-sector partners and supporters who have contributed to the success of this campaign.
