European Solar Day shortlisted for Engagement Award at International Energy Awards

30 January 2025

European Solar Day, an initiative by SolarPower Europe, has been shortlisted for the Engagement Award at the International Energy Awards 2025.

Celebrated on 21 June, the longest and brightest day of the year, European Solar Day brings together citizens, businesses, and policymakers to bring awareness about the power and potential of solar energy.

A key pillar of the campaign is its focus on engagement and accessibility, particularly for young audiences. In 2024, the campaign launched the Solar School, a digital portal aimed at breaking down barriers, bridging the knowledge gap, and ensuring everyone has equitable access to solar education. Amongst the resources offered, it features a series of five videos that demystify solar energy, exploring solar's history in time, answering commonly asked questions, and debunking solar myths.

European Solar Day has also developed an interactive quiz that lets users test their knowledge and discover which “solar superhero” they are. Crosswords and games encourage users to explore solar power in a fun way with their peers in various European languages.

“By providing these resources, the campaign ensures that everyone has the tools to understand and engage in the energy transition, equipping people to take ownership of their energy future. European Solar Day is not just a one-day event, but a collaborative movement that drives action to unlock solar's endless possibilities”.
