Interview with Leda Langberg, Statkraft – Chair of the Supply Chain Sustainability Workstream
What is the Supply Chain Sustainability Workstream, and why is it important?
Solar power, with its scalability, plays a pivotal role in the transition to clean energy. The Supply Chain Sustainability Workstream focuses on empowering the solar industry to achieve a just transition. This involves understanding upcoming regulatory changes and advocating for industry priorities to regulators and other stakeholders.
The timing is crucial, as the EU prepares to implement a range of sustainability requirements addressing a broad spectrum of environmental and social issues. Striking the right balance - ensuring the solar industry can thrive and scale renewable energy while minimising impacts on people and the planet - requires active industry engagement. We must be vocal in advocating for a regulatory environment that supports both objectives.
Why should companies join the workstream?
Now is the time to get involved. Not only does it present an opportunity to offer insights from your company's perspective as regulations are released for public consultation, but it also gives you a chance to help shape the tools our industry will need to navigate this new regulatory landscape.
What will the future of the Supply Chain Sustainability Workstream look like?
Engaging! Building sustainable solar supply chains is such a meaningful aim to get involved in, and I’m really looking forward to progressing the important advocacy work currently underway, so we can shift more towards knowledge sharing.
I'm eager to hear from (and see) industry colleagues in our monthly meetings - this sector is full of insightful, positive voices.
