Interview with Chiara Landrò, 3Sun – Chair of the Manufacturing Workstream

1. What is the Manufacturing Workstream and why is it important?
The Manufacturing Workstream is a key committee within SolarPower Europe, bringing together stakeholders across the entire solar value chain, from upstream to downstream. Its primary goal is to highlight the issues related to solar manufacturing – at both European and national levels - by engaging policymakers and key industry stakeholders. The group serves as the voice of the solar industry, advocating for its needs at a time when strong and clear institutional support is crucial. To sustain growth and competitiveness, the sector needs well-structured policies and tangible measures in the short, medium, and long term
2. Why should companies join the Workstream?
Companies joining this Workstream can actively shape European policies and regulations that bolster the domestic photovoltaic industry. By joining the discussion, companies can help drive industry-friendly frameworks while also fostering synergies and commercial connections in a collaborative environment. Our annual Manufacturing Strategy Day is also a great venue to connect and build ties with solar industry members.
3. What will the future of the Manufacturing Workstream look like?
Amid ongoing and expanding discussions on the competitiveness of the domestic industry - and with the European Commission placing greater emphasis on industrial policy - the Manufacturing Workstream aims to contribute to the debate with a strong voice in support of the European solar sector. Beyond advocacy, it aims to take concrete action by providing in-depth studies and accredited reports that strengthen its narrative and policy recommendations.
