Solar Stewardship Initiative: Have Your Say on Supply Chain Sustainability
Online
Join us in a webinar on 24 May at 15:30 CEST to learn more about the SSI and how your organisation can participate in the public consultation.
SolarPower Europe and Solar Energy UK launched the Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI) in October 2022, with the goal of ensuring and demonstrating responsibility, transparency, and sustainability across the solar value chain. The Initiative is working to establish mechanisms that gather and verify information on the environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance of operators in the solar value supply chain, as well as increase transparency on materials and components' origin. The central instrument is the SSI Code, which sets out the specific ESG criteria based on international standards, against which companies will be rated and monitored by independent auditors.
While the pilot programme is coming to an end, SolarPower Europe and Solar Energy UK are now opening a multi-stakeholder consultation to gather feedback from civil society, policy makers, and other stakeholders on the draft SSI Code, and the further development of the SSI, more generally.
