SolarPower Europe was represented by Walburga Hemetsberger, CEO; Anett Ludwig, Head of Supply Chains; Thomas Garabetian, R&I Manager; and Claire Morin, Junior Project Officer.
During its meeting, ETIP PV discussed feedback from recent events; its Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) report update; a discussion of the its working groups' progress; next year’s ETIP PV conference in Brussels; and the European Commission’s co-programmed partnership for solar photovoltaics with ETIP PV.
Additionally, the meeting elected new ETIP PV Chairs for the 2024-2026 period. Rutger Schlatmann, Head of the Solar Energy division at Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB), and Professor at HTW Berlin, was re-elected as Chair, alongside David Moser, Head of the Photovoltaic Energy System Research group at the Institute for Renewable Energy (Eurac Research), as Vice-Chair. Additionally, the Steering Committee elected Dr. Nora Adam, R&D Ecological Engineer, BayWa r.e. Global, as the new Vice-Chair.
Upon re-election, Rutger Schlatmann said; "Now more than ever, we need a vigorously growing, resilient, European solar PV market, served by a strong European solar PV industry.”
After closing the Steering Committee meeting, ETIP PV visited WACKER Chemie’s factory, the leading manufacturer of polysilicon, in Burghausen, 100km from Munich.
Thanks to everyone at Wacker Chemie, and to Dr. Michael Bünning for facilitating this visit.
One thing is clear: we must urgently scale up innovation and strengthen the connection between homegrown research and the future of European solar manufacturing.
